Inspired by Jim Watkins' quote, "A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence," *Resilience* captures the delicate balance between strength and adaptability. This piece, rich in texture and depth, mirrors the relentless journey of resilience in human nature. Layered with collage, mark-making, and a blend of acrylics and oils, the composition speaks to our ability to weather life's challenges with both fluidity and firmness.
The flowing shapes and textures represent the constant movement of water, a symbol of flexibility and our innate capacity to adapt. The rocks, steadfast and grounded, embody those parts of us that remain unwavering, even amid turbulent shifts. Together, the river and the rocks portray a harmonious duality: while the rocks stand as symbols of endurance, the water reminds us of the gentle yet unstoppable power of persistence.
In Resilience, the interplay between fluidity and solidity invites the viewer to reflect on their own strength, encouraging an embrace of life's ebbs and flows as essential forces that carve our path forward.
